An early morning in Puerto Morelos
Lens: DA 12-24 Camera: K5 Photo Location: Puerto Morelos, Mexico

I have finished the initial pass of my shots from our winter getaway. I am basically just going day by day. These are from day 8 so I apologize you get many more days yet It was a very overcast morning - not the optimal shooting conditions but damnit I was up and out there and hey digital costs nothing but time and space to keep.

Click on image twice for larger view

I have also mostly resisted the urge to over process these shots - pretty much as seen by my eye and camera. I may try a few HDR like on some of these at a later time.

I like this one , it implies some motion. A long exposure (21s) Those two lights you see on the horizion are lit up cruise ships heading into Cancun.

You can just start to see some sun rays peaking out from the heavy bank of clouds ...(ok I tweaked this one a bit for cloud detail and rays )

Now we walk down to the main doc in Puerto Morelos as we are not going to get a glorious sunrise this morning. The infamous leaning lighthouse in full view. You gotta like a town whose main sign is sponsored by Corona. This adds to the description of a drinking town with a fishing problem.

You have to get up early or stay late to see the doc empty.

I really like most of this shot - the front half boat kinda dissapoints me - I may try and clone it out but overall I like this one, it shows more of the lean of the lighthouse.

Looking back at town from the end of the doc

Walking back to the house this was about the best of the 'sunrise' where you can see some of the golden rays. It cleared up that day about an hour later barely a cloud in the sky.

Thanks for looking

Go back to bed Dave. It is too early in the morning to be up and about. You sure made good use of the early hour though. You really captured the lighthouse. Nice series. Love the long exposure on the first one.

I have never seen a sunrise that I like, love #1 and I think #5 would look great in B/W, but that is what I get for thinking. Enjoyed the view Dave, thanks..

Thanks Susan I quite like that one as well - the ships and clouds really imply motion.

haha Bob I am sure you have seen many in your day - however if I were retired I would have to set up remote timers . Thanks for the comments.

Great shots! I especially like 2, 4 and 5

We weren't there long, but we never the dock completely empty like that. It almost looks like different place.

Somewhere i have a shot of that lighthouse with the local children climbing all over it.

Great scenery. There seems to be a blue/cyan cast on all the shots except the first one?

Thanks bucfan - indeed you have to be there early or late the doc is usally littered with people once the sun comes up.

haha thanks kerrowdown. I truly enjoy this and where I live I don't have the oppertunity for ocean shots. To me this was fun and that is what matters.

I think you are correct Den - might be a bit of a WB issue - long exposures ....
