Hunting for Hope
Lens: Tamron 90 2.8 macro, Pentax 1.7 x converter Camera: K-5 Photo Location: The woods of South Algonquin Ontario
Posted By: tessfully, 03-16-2013, 02:56 PM

I have a fever... spring fever...yet it is still winter for another 3 full days . So I dragged my (...) out into the minus 10 degree weather for a snowy walk in search of hope. This is what I found....

Nope, no hope here

nor here...

Ah ha!

Double Ah ha!

And upon close examination, even our much beloved beech tree is showing signs of renewal!

Oh my goodness, what is this? Leaf buds praying for some warm sun so they can open.

Hallelujah!!!

Soon. Very very soon!

I like the sprouts - especially the fourth one where it's struggling through snow. The fact that the plants are sprouting is reason for hope!

The only time I really yearn for winter is after everything is dead and its cold out... then the snow brings beauty back to the woods and I can enjoy Dec, Jan and Feb.. But by March I am like everyone else... had enough, ready for some warmth! Thanks for having a look Bob

Hi Les... thanks for commenting we got down to minus 23 last night. The trade off is a very cold morning with beautiful sun. I think your winter is much longer and colder than ours. Does spring come in a rush for you?

I feel for ya and can appreciate the fever - spent yesterday shoveling the driveway with more snow expected today. You did find some interesting subjects and a bit of hope and color. Soon !

Sometimes Spring does come in a rush....and if there's lot's of snow cover....then can come dire consequences....flooding of the Red River and sometimes of the Assiniboine River. We hope for a gradual thaw....but as you know Mother Nature will do what Mother Nature will do.

We have a winter storm warning this afternoon and tonight....not looking forward to that.
