Snow Geese

These guys are heading South and at this age haven't figured out that humans are carnivores, too. I'm only a few feet from them here but once they figured out I wasn't a fox, they forgot I was there; the adults know better. They have to leave on migration before they've even completed their first moult - you can see the 'gosling' down highlights in a couple of angles. Why you'd fight over a couple of blueberries, I don't know, but they are probably brother and sister in white and dark morphology.

The energy expended in beating up your little sister far exceeds the return in the few little berries they were fighting over
Thanks, Tess

But really dumb at this age. When they return in the spring, they have developed a healthy respect for humans but this age group, in the fall migration, don't seem to recognize us as a danger. Thanks
John
