I like the subject. Consider turning the photo to B&W. The weed on the right lower corner is distracting.

I agree with the weed comment - but a lovely look at the town.

Personally on this one I like color. The color gives it more life. These buildings are all easily over 100 years old...so the color (for me) gives it something extra... just my opinion on it. Some things can be done in B&W and it turns out great....

I like the color one very much - like you, I've passed "through" places like this a number of times, and you've captured the feel of these old towns very well.

I like the color version better also. The last crop is better also but that is just my 2 cents worth. I can see horses tied up outside these building. TFS.

I used to live in Texas and remember driving through lots of towns like this one. I prefer the original color version, and instead of cropping out the weeds, I would clone them out. I think the crop is a little too severe. Nice pic!

How do I clone? What is that? You have to remember I am newbie, especially to the post processing stuff.

Oh, sorry.... cloning is a technique available in most image processing applications like Photoshop, Lightroom, Aperture, etc. What software are you using? Some more basic software, like iPhoto, might not have this tool.

Cloning works by selecting one area of the picture and pasting it on another. So in this case, you could copy a bit of the road and paste it over the weed, then follow with some kind of smooth or repair tool to clean it up so that it's hard to see what you've done. It's pretty effective if done carefully.
