Morbo's Picture Thread!! Update: 4/16 Old Rag Mountain Climb pics!
Posted By: Morbo, 03-01-2008, 09:54 PM

My flickr page for all of my pictures (including before I got my K100DSuper): Flickr: Photos from a Dan of action

But here's a few choice I've shot with the Pentax since I got it this past November.
Thus far I only have the 18-55 kit lens, and a 70-300 that came free with the camera. I'm planning on buying 2 new ones with tax refund!
Please enjoy, and hopefully i'll be posting here more!

Ha. Nice.
I live in Manassas - just moved down from Syracuse, NY in August for a job. a buddy I work with lives in Gainesville. We spend much time there at the Tap Room / Five Guys.

I know I'm new to the area, but I've found there isn't much photography wise around this area :\

Yay!
I lived in Manassas for 23 years before moving to Gainesville (55+ retirement community). Lived in Sudley (behind the elementary school), and down from the Barn, if you're familar with Manassas yet.

You might trying shooting at the battlefield, or head west toward Front Royal and take a trip down Skyline Drive (Shenandoah National Park). Of course, you're only 35 miles or so from DC. Lots and lots of stuff there. Also, Mount Vernon (George Washington's home), or take a day trip to Charlottesville and Thomas Jefferson's home at Monticello. Might also consider a trip up to Gettysburg -- about 2 hour drive.

some pics from disney trip this past week - all taken with my point & shoot Canon A95 (wanted to bring the K100D, but I had no checked luggage, and I didn't want to carry it around the parks (went with some guys i work with - so it was more of a "guys on spring break for fun" trip than a photographic journey lol)

Dan, you definitely have a great eye and a wonderful sense of humor that shows in your photos. You'll be getting added to my contacts on Flickr so I can follow your work.

I used to live in Syracuse, NY, but that was a long time ago. I was just in the DC area last fall for my brother-in-law's wedding in Baltimore. I love the east coast. My wife's parents have 126 acres of unused farm land near Waverly, NY (SW of Binghamton) that we hope to inherit and retire to in a few decades.

Thanks! It's great to hear feedback from people who have never met me, and can be judgmental based solely on the photographic work.
Thanks for the Flickr add too!

I can't wait until we get a Wegmans here - its coming next year! lol.

Nice pics. I assume you are teaching in the Manassas area?

BTW, noticed your comment on 3/26 re: Wegmans. Are aware that there are at least 2 nearby? There is 1 located right off Waxpool Road -- heading 28 north toward Dulles, and the other one is off Rt. 50 near the Fairfax County Headquarters building. Sorry, don't know the exact street.

Went climbing up Old Rag Mountain here in Shenandoah National Park last weekend. Totally awesome. More than a hike. So much fun.

The FULL set of all the pictures from the climb are here: Old Rag Climb 4/13/08 - a set on Flickr
It's 93 pics, so if you got a few minutes take a look!

Here are some samples though!
