People First try at strobist...

Trying to figure out this strobist thing so I went to the park with the wife. It was such a gloomy day I decided to do these in black and white. I think the light was a bit too harsh and I'll need to get an umbrella for improvement. What do you guys think?

Your wife is very lovely. I don't think the light looks harsh at all. I do like the contrast of the second image better than the contrast in the first image. Everything in the first image looks gray. You might want to play around with the B&W conversion.

Just a bit harsh, but it is an interesting look in that it adds sharp contrast, so not necessarily bad.

Took your advice and played around with the first photo for more contrast.
