Simplicity and Imperfect Beauty
Lens: Tamron 90 macro, Pentax 1.7x converter, Pentax 40mm Camera: K-5, K-01 Photo Location: The woods
Posted By: tessfully, 03-20-2013, 12:15 PM

I am working hard to try and capture the transient beauty of nature in all its imperfections. Today I took out the macro lens with the 1.7 x converter. Here are the shots I like. Even though they are similar to other photos I have taken over the years, I think I am getting closer to the essence I strive for.

This was taken the the Pentax K-01

thank you for having a look!

The essence has been captured indeed Tess - quite like them all with the tree bark being my favorite.

Nice shots. These are so sharp you can almost feel them in your hands! Thanks for sharing.

Tess, you must have captured the essence you have been after as these prove it. Simply put, they are wonderful. So full of detail and texture and color.

Nice, especially that first one. You have really got this genre down cold (so to speak). What kind of tree (I assume) is #3? That's a pretty cool looking abstract.

Very nice, tess. The third one is especially cool - I don't know what it is, but the unusual color and composition work very well.

You have mastered the art of extracting beauty from the everyday natural world. Like most of the other comments I especially like #3. Tree bark provides a vast array of interesting patterns.

All your photos are lovely! I'm a thistle lover - that thistle really grooves! Great color, texture, lightness in your photography.

Thanks so much Susan. I have been reading about Wabi-Sabi, a Japanese aesthetic, and I think I found an articulation for the type of photos I love to take.

Thanks Charlie... there are so many measuring sticks on what is good or proper in photography and what I have found lately is my own measuring stick. It is very liberating.

Thank you Bob... today I refused to take pictures of more dead leaves, even though they seemed pretty in a monochrome kind of way. enough already... bring on the bees and the flowers!
