whale watching in Puerto Vallarta

Took a break from the Wisconsin winter. A cruise about the Baha penninsula was the perfect tonic for this long winter we're having. Here's a few images from the trip. Won't win any awards, but was well worth the effort to bring the camera grear.

Comments and suggestions very welcome (as always)

Again - comments and criticisms welcome!
Thanks for looking!

Lucky you!!!

SOME day...

That type of trip is on my bucket list.

Something about the third shot really draws me to it. Good work!

Thanks, Tom the comment is appreciated....-
I was lucky, indeed -
- Lucky to be there in February
- Lucky the weather was clear
- Lucky to get a great guide
- Lucky the whales were incredibly active (almost 300 exposures in the 3.5 hours)
Thankful I remembered to bring the K10 ! :-)

third shot..

I am with Tom.. that third shot is really good..

Have you cropped it already.. I wonder what it would like if you cropped out the main whale tale by itself.?

Great shots... I think I would be too busy watching and forget to take pictures watching that.. It is one of my lifes dreams to see the whales that close...

Thanks so much for sharing..

Hi, Kim
Thanks for the comment. The shot was not cropped at all and I've got so many other shots, that I'm wondering if this one shows what you're thinking of. This shot was a solo tail with a crop only for the horizon line...
...

then I get carried away and just want to see a shot of the huge spash that these beasts make...

but I digress...
If you think a crop of the 3rd shot would be better, I can give that a whirl, too.

Thanks again for taking the time!

Having had the opportunity to shoot these on an Alaskan cruise, on calm water, I can appreciate how good your shots are.

Great rip and great photos. I can fully understand 300 shots on a trip like that.

Hi Pat, WeatherWise2 and Dave -
Thanks for the kind comments. The quide was mentioning the the Mexican waters in Feb and March are the best. I guess I can't dispute that. It was well worth the US$100. It was a real highlight for me!

I really like this one too tlfaust!!! Maybe some day I will get to get my own chance at capturing one of these beauties on film too!!!

Even though I like this other shot though, I still think #3 might look just as good cropped to the main fin.. It may be hard to crop due to the other animals around it though..

I really like them both!!! Thanks so much for sharin.. Kim

Thanks, Kim
I did try cropping, as you seggested, but I'd need to clone out pieces of other whales. When my PS skills get better, I'll give it another try!
Cheers!
