A few more from this series. I used a lasagna size container and I arranged some birch bark, beech leaves, a maple leaf and fern fronds in 3/4 well water and 1/4 carbonated water before freezing. I have been photographing this set for a week now trying to capture the special something I see in the ice. It is outside melting slowly so I will probably have one more go at it before it turns into a puddle.

Last night's purple and pink sunset provided the nicest light so I propped the ice block up on the picnic table facing the sunset and took a few shots.

I am only now starting to see corners of the Birch Bark, the bottom layer in the ice, which has a lot of burgundy in it.

And a couple I did the other day, back lit by a lamp, and converted to black and white and then sepia for effect...

Fascinating. The last two remind me of a spider or more likely an octopus.

Interesting work Tess. I like the color of the leaves in the first one. The last two have a transparent feel to them.

I am so glad you are still working on the series and are nice enough to share them with us. Those two conversions to B&W then sepia are so lovely and delicate. I think they are my favorites.

I hate to be repetitive Tess, but damn you're good! I love 1&5. (I pictured the concept of setting it up with a thin glaze of water but wouldn't have thought of the Shweppes trick for the bubbles

Thanks Susan... I am so happy you like those last two. I think that is the "feel" I like most in the results.
