My iron axe
Lens: Pentax 16-50*/2.8 Camera: Pentax K20D Photo Location: Russia, Middle URAL

My iron axe from the village blacksmith, with carved handle from birch and with runes on the blade:

Nicely made axe, your blacksmith knows his craft.
The handle would give good grip though may chafe a little with long use...?
The return at the end stops it slipping out of you grip in the cold and wet..?
Hope you warm it well before use...

It is good balanced axe and I don't need more longer handle Сonnection with the blade was not good and I temporarily supported his by chip, then install a metal wedge. The wood handle is saturated with linseed oil.

Nop, it not seems like a tomahawk - because tomahawk is missile weapons with a straight handle. My axe - is blunt weapon, with stopper on the handle Also tomahawk have a counterbalance on the blade.

Looks very Viking like in style to me and the runes help to support my theory.

It's a very good product shot for your smiddys catalogue too, well done.

It is Russian axe, and our native runes Anyway, most of runes is similar like a Viking runes.
