A few macro shots taken over the weekend. We were lucky with bright sunny weather, so I could go all the way up to f/22 and higher in some cases and still get adequate shutter speed.

Just noticed that the last one has some kind of posterized effect on the red petals which isn't visible on my original version.

Nice lighting and colors. Think the first is my favorite with the variety.

These grow wild in your part of the country don't they? They are so beautiful - all those rich bright colors. TFS them.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Susan, you don't see too many of this variety out in the wild (I think they need more water). Mostly you see the orange California poppy, the state flower. They're starting to bloom now, so don't be surprised if a few more poppy pics show up here before too long.

Jerry, just to let you know that the Joshua Trees up in the high desert are in full bloom now, quite a spectacle to see. I got some shots while we stopped in Hesperia for a couple of days.
