Cock-A-Doodle-Doooo!
Posted By: R.ticle One, 03-03-2008, 10:00 AM

This guy...this guy jabbed his spur into my knee last year on a farm. All I was trying to do was give the birds some water to drink! Man, did that ever hurt. Knee was swollen for a week. Roosters are mighty strong creatures. This picture was taken, obviously, some time after the incident. Friend's Canon 400D (first DSLR I ever got to try for more than a minute). May be a touch dark...

Comments welcome. Enjoy!

Nice image. Difficult lighting from behind the rooster but doesn't seem too dark. Bokeh looks a bit unusual though. I'll make a point of staying outside striking range of roosters.

Thanks everyone! Yes, the bokeh is odd, I noticed this when it was on a bigger screen. I just imagine that it kind of looks like the air around the rooster is reverberating in response to his warning cry.

This shot was taking from behind the chicken-wire fence...

Cool picture. I see the hex pattern in the bokeh. Interesting.

Hmm...I wonder if the bokeh was the wire. I though I had gotten the lens through a gap in it, but maybe not...? There were a number of roosters in there. There are only two (who look almost the same, the Alpha-birds with a big build and white and black tail feathers) who get aggressive.
