Great Blue Heron

Compared to the other Heron threads, these are not great photos, but it sure was fun watching this beautiful bird on a gorgeous spring day.

I love that you kept the habitat surrounding him in the frame. I enjoy seeing their natural surroundings as much as I enjoy looking at the bird. Nice captures - I like the last one the best. Looks to be a great place for all kinds of photography

Thanks Susan. Actually, I also enjoy seeing the surroundings in wildlife photography. These were all taken at Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Virginia. It's a wonderful place to take photos, as well as a wonderful place for for the quiet contemplation of nature.

The second one is really good.
Is it cropped much? Would be intersting to see a larger version of it.
And, yeah, it is an interesting bird to watch...but sometimes need lots of patience.

Mickey, it is cropped , but mostly top since we were close to the parking lot and a few cars were visible.

As far as patience, we crept up on this guy for 15 minutes or so.
