Soccer Field using Ultra-Wide Angle
Posted By: lastdodobird, 03-03-2008, 09:14 PM

A couple of photos below taken at my alma mater using a Sigma 10-20.

I've heard it a lot that a pretty useful technique when using an UWA lens is to move up-close to your subject, so I tried that out the with the photos below.

C&C appreciated

I was playing around with some post-processing tips and tricks I got on the web, and I came up with this, which I personally think looks cool. Hehe.

Very nice. I have the DA12-24 and the DA10-17(Fisheye) and you can get amazingly close to subjects. I assume the Sigma will be the same - try some flower or insect shots! I like the PP one as well.

DoDo, that PP shot is more than just looks good - I think you got an excellent effect - well done.

Care to share the process?

Storm coming

lastdodobird,
I like all your shots but really like the feel of the pp photo. It says something to have dark storm clouds and any empty soccer field.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys. The internet really is a goldmine for learning stuff. The basic workflow I followed was this Lightroom tutorial to sort of emulate the "Dave Hill look":

Dave Hill Tutorial limeliteimages

Then I just played around with the settings depending on what I thought the photo needed.

I actually lost a few hours of sleep because I was playing with A LOT of my past photos and tested what would work with the technique and what wouldn't It got so addicting. Haha.

I'll be posting several photos on a separate thread here to try and see what other suggestions I could get to improve the process Thanks again!
