Aye, it's just a grab while you can, as you say it's all gone in a flash, I prefer the first image.

Breautiful colors and the transmission lines add interest to the photo, appears they are 500,000 volt lines.

thank you Susan, pretty as it was, I think I missed the best of it, the rays were a lot stronger before I came back with the camera.

thanks Bob, I agree, I think man made structure silhouetted against the beauty of nature is always interesting, I'll take your word on the voltage, I have some better pics of these towers, I'll see if I can find some, cheers

Hi Bob

I have no knowledge concerning electricity matters but I know you are the man to ask.
We have 240V in Oz, so would this change anything in relation to your 500,000V guess?

Greetings

you're on the lower end of the distribution voltage food chain, this would have no effect upon you at all

Most likely 330kV. That forked tower design is often used here for a 30 metre tall 330kV single circuit distribution. But I could be wrong. I haven't studied this stuff since Uni and that was many years ago.

Richard.

Here's a better look at the towers if this helps in the voltage debate ... after posting I realised these towers are somewhat different to the ones in the sunset photo although I'm sure they are the same lines that run along the other side of the valley, this was taken a km or so further up the valley.
