Posted By: Pentaxnut, 03-04-2008, 03:48 PM

Was sitting in the kitchen having coffee. looked out on the deck saw my snowshovel on the floor full of water from rain on monday. water froze monday nite or tuesday morning. found this embedded in the ice. i would have hated to get hit with this. must have came fron an airplane or something.....
First 4 shots taken with DA 16-50. Last shot taken with 100mm macro

Fun with nature. You ought to pose one of you wife's (or BH) necklaces on it for a "Get Frosted" look.

Notice how the bubbles radiate away from the center ice. Very strange.

That is crazy! Imagine it hitting your car - or worse - your head! Probably from some high altitude flier, as you suspected.

Wow - if it did indeed fall from shy would it have not shattered? How big is it ? Those are good shots of whatever it is and wherever it came from - maybe you have started a new 'crop circle' phenomenon

As a guess to origin, it looks like the ice accumulated in a normal spade or garden shovel, that was left sitting there for a while.

If it truely fell from an airplane, it would have either shattered or gone right through the deck, and I am sure with either of those events, you would have heard it.

Great shot though.

there or no spades or shovels on the deck. the shovel was on its back filled with water nothing above it but sky.....I agree if it came from to high it would have shattered on impact......other than that i dont know. i have it in the freezer incase the aliens that lost it come looking for it...
