Fire Devastation Warrumbungles

In January 2013 a massive wild fire ripped through the national park, destroying about 46,000 hectares and about 50 homes. It also distroyed some of the buildings at the Siding Spring Observatory, but not the telescopes. It is still a scene of devastation.

With a name like that I had to have a look. Nature does do a great job of destroying what she has built up over the centuries doesn't she?

So true. Something with the Australian bush, fire is often good for it. There is even some plants that require fire to germinate. The problem is we often don't burn off the fuel load when the weather is good and then when it is a high fire danger we get these wild fires. Often started with lightning, as this one, but very often by man through negligence, or design.

Nice , but nature is resilient as well - it'll grow back - shame about the homes though. Couple of years ago we lost the better part of a whole town in Northern Alberta in a wildfire (Slave Lake).
