In Full Bloom
Posted By: Bob Harris, 04-12-2013, 11:10 PM

The Argentine Giant White Cactus was in full bloom and one of the most beautiful blossoms I have ever seen. A few getting closer photos to appreciate the glory of this plant which only blooms for a couple of days and opens at night, closes during the day.

Many of the night-blooming cacti are simply gorgeous. This one's high on the list!
Julie looks like we will get another bloom off of the cactus soon, twice in one year is an extra treat for us.

What a beautiful plant. Great shots.
I think this would grow very well in parts of Texas. Thanks for taking a look, always appreciated.

this one does entice you to get close, bats love to visit these during the night along with moths and other night insects.

What a cracking wee display of flowers on the first image, what sort of size are we talking here?

Great shots thanks for posting, didn't realise cacti did such beauty.

I wish everyone could watch this cactus open, takes about an hour and only lasts generally about a day and a half. They range in size from 5 to 7 inches and silk like to the feel.

thank you CC, glad you enjoyed the view. This was taken as it darkened and I used a flash for this photo, lit up the plant nicely.

Wow, Bob, are these ever pretty. I realize cacti bloom, but I don't think I've ever seen such a good example (and - I didn't have to get too close to see it!).

You're right about that buddy, you can stand your distance and not have to worry about getting stuck. It is getting ready to bloom again, quite unusual for a cactus I think, but none of those nasty cactus have started to bloom yet, probably waiting for you to come by so they can introduce themselves to you.
