Monday's Season opener .....
Lens: DA* 16-50 Camera: K5 Photo Location: Sherwood Park, Alberta

....has been 'rescheduled'

Our slo pitch season was scheduled to start on Monday 22nd April but as you can see from these pics that is not going to happen. I was near the area and thought I would pop in this morning and have a look around. Also happened to have my camera with me If we get lucky and get some *&$(#& heat we might only be delayed a couple weeks.

There are 3 more diamonds at this facility that are in roughly the same shape.

Come on Dave, all that snow will make sliding less painful. You should be welcoming the chance to play with a bit of white stuff on the ground...

Play Ball buddy, real baseball players don't worry about the field conditions and they certainly don't cry. What a mess, looks like a lot of double headers in the future.

There's me thinking they wouldn't be able to find a white ball.

Maybe use a green tennis ball instead or dye the ball green. That should make it visible till the grass turns green anyways.

haha the snow is fine, it's the constant sub zero temps. The aluminum bats do not hold up well in these temps (dents) and you certainly 'feel' it if you hit the ball anywhere but the sweet spot.

What you kidding me ? Real ball players go on the IR for hangnails haha ! We play double headers all the time - we only play once a week and they are always double headers. 32 Teams in our league , about the same in Men's. These diamonds are always busy.

No worries - we have used yellow balls for years (as late in the season sometimes the games go past sunset)

Yellow is the color of choice here.

Look at it this way, you won't have to put an ice pack on any injuries. You northerners live in those snowy places just so you can complain about them.

NO WE DON"T , we live in these places, because.... OK so I can't really think of a reason.
You southerners live in those warm places because, they're warm.... apart from that I can't think of a reason.

Ok, back to our regular programming.

Looks pretty bleak, buddy - but that's not a bad thing, at least with respect to these photos. I like the compositions and the conversions - number 3 is first rate.

ha that's one way to look at it - We do indeed like to complain about long winters however it's human nature - when it's 30C in August you will see me complain about the heat

ha I live 'here' because at 18 I was in Nova Scotia where my options where to draw unemployment or fish. I came out west to Alberta for a 'few' years. Got on the rigs made stupid money and partied lots. Decided to go back to school. Met a girl. Got married and started a family. Watched the kids leave the nest. Those 'few years' have now turned into 34 years and I call Alberta home. It has been very good to me and my family. For all the complaining I do , I love it here. Even IF we retire I suspect we will always have a place here
