Cactus Candy
Lens: 50mm f/2.8 Camera: Kx Photo Location: Nevada

It was a dry year and the cacti are slow to open this year and not as many blooms as in the past. Here are a few of the newly opened and blooms that have not opened yet. It is amazing these plants can survive on 2 inches of rain during the year and still are able to bloom with such beauty.

TFS Bob. I have 2 18" saucers with a variety of cacti in them. Several of the plants are getting close to blooming. When they do, I'll snap a few.

Good shots Bob. We have some cactus along the roadsides here, I'll have to check if they bloom this year.

That 4th shot really looks nice Bob.Plants are starting to pop around here but it's hard when the seabreeze kicks in and it doesn't make 50 degs.--charliezap

Nice shots. We don't get any cacti around here so it's nice to learn about them from your description and see that they are capable of such beauty. Thanks for posting.

Den, that will be funny if you get more in bloom at your home than I do in the complete desert, looking forward to your photos.

During the summer EM, everything is basically brown, so it is really nice to see some color here.

It's the colors that grab me. Out of the desert comes such deep rich royal colors. TFS these Bob.

That's for sure Jer, there is a lot of West Texas that has this same type of terrain, makes you wonder how anything can survive.
