Great shot. I love the way you captured the fire exploding from the barrel.

Caught this one at exactly the right moment. Nice color from the powder too.

Austerity is really starting to have an impact on the UK armed forces!

Thanks, I did take many shots of them taking many shots, but few were as good as this one for timing.

Thanks, you really had to pre-empt the action, not easy when they are using delay fuses.

Worryingly the master gunner and his team were all Austrians.

The UK Forces can't even afford the outfits, judging by what the lads are having to buy for themselves these days, let alone cannons.

Thanks, trust me standing there with an 85 mm, you could actually feel it coming through the ground when it fired.

I can't believe how well you caught this outstanding photo. Simply outstanding. Can you give us some context for this shot - historical recreation of a specific battle???????

Thank you for your kind words, I must admit I do have many more with just puffs of smoke and hints of flame, this was about the best one.

It was one of those weekend events organised at Urquhart Castle by Loch Ness. They were a body of folk who perform re-enactments of Covenanters period of Scottish history in around 1638.

A couple more images from the day, a mean looking group shot and the other one, being the famous Highland Charge, which upset many a good man I'm sure in it's time.
