Congaree NP meetup
Lens: DA 16-45 Camera: K10D Photo Location: Congaree National Park

Had a Pentax meetup at Congaree National Park with slowpez and some guy who borrows her lenses and loses the hoods. Congaree is a hidden gem in the US national park system -- even as you approach there aren't many signs. As Susan warned it is a challenging place to photograph, mainly deep forest, and not a lot of clear vantage points even around open water. Unless you take a canoe, which we didn't. Instead we had a lovely walk and lots of fun looking for interesting details to photograph.

Here's my set from the day, nearly all bracketed exposures combined in GIMP.

Wow - you got some great exposures in tough lighting conditions. I really liked your B&W and the colours in the water in the last one. Where is that exactly? Thanks for posting.

Really like these shots, the dappled shade has been caught really, testing times exposure wise, well done.

You managed to get some great shots there Jeff. Ray and I had a great time and came home tired and happy. Bracketing really paid off for you I see. I will get around to posting a few of mine in a bit. I'm not real pleased with them and I still can't seem to get what I want out of that swamp.

Great shots! This looks like a great place. All really lovely and showing off different aspects of the swamp.

Thanks all for the comments -- finally have an Internet connection again. fotogaffer, the park is a short drive (~30 minutes) SE of downtown Columbia, SC, USA. Dave: no hoods lost on this trip. Bob: I asked Susan where to go for sunrise photos, but she had no idea. Susan: thanks again to you and Ray!
