Or a rabbit hole? Down or up?

A hyper-fisheye IR shot of the sky in woodland. The 'hole' is the view of the sky, the surrounding area is the ground. It looks like that because of the very wide field of view. I'm not explaining this very well am I...

The image has a field of view of 349 degrees according to Hugin, the sky is at the centre. The numbers are part of the pano head - I left them in since it makes it more mysterious.

In testing I took this one in my living room earlier. The field of view here is 344 degrees. The carpet features strongly in this picture

I apologize in advance if these mess with your head

That is cool, thanks for sharing. The first shot is more compelling(both are cool), but maybe you should crop out some of the carpet in the second?

I did consider cropping more carpet, but part of the impact is how distant the rest of the room was. So I left it in - it was supposed to be a proof of concept anyway!

I've also tried some severe cropping on another one from the woodland. In some ways it makes it a more conventional picture, but the mind-bending 'rabbit hole' appearance is mostly lost:

Aye, your right enough, but they do hold your attention as a viewer, cos your trying to work out what's going on.

Thanks for scrambling what little I have left.

A compromise perhaps - the first one cropped a bit to give a slightly more conventional image. Still vertiginous but not quite as mind-bending as the first version.

I really like the crop on that last one. It feels like i'm leaning over the edge, about to fall in. Having the ground all around the picture keeps throwing me off. I can't get my head around it!

Would you mind showing us a picture of the lens/converter you used?

Funky, indeed. I like the cropped version very much. Cool stuff.

I like all 3 versions of the woodlands shot. Each is compelling, in it's own way.

I'll put something together showing how it is done tomorrow, via a new thread in the technique section.
