I was out for a walk on the dikes, hoping to find a few early damselflies to photograph the other day, and I wasn't having much luck. I'd spotted one the day before when I didn't have my camera, and thought I might see a couple more, but the only one I did see took off after one (bad) shot, and I didn't see another all day. I was heading back to the parking lot, and I put my bag down on a bench to pack up my gear, when I noticed this little guy staring up at me. I was pretty excited to see something other than the extremely common Salticus senicus that are all over the place here. My best guess is a Platycryptus californicus, but I could be mistaken.
