Haunted by Waters
Lens: various Camera: k-5 Photo Location: The woods of South Algonquin
Posted By: tessfully, 04-28-2013, 10:17 AM

Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs.

I am haunted by waters. --- Norman Maclean

For anyone interested more on the flood can be viewed here:

Home of My Own

Snow melt from the Ridges and 65mm or rain carved its way through the woods where I walk the dogs.

The artistry of the ice and the roar of overland flow was awesome.

Thank you for looking

Do I sound like a parrot when I keep saying how wonderful your images are?
They always seem so beautiful.
You definitely have a style that few duplicate.
I love your work...says the parrot.

Love the whole series Tess. The first and the last are my favorites of a series of images that should have no favorites. Just gorgeous.

Great images, I hope you weren't standing to close to the edges in any of these shots.

As water erosion can suddenly play havoc with seemingly safe viewpoints.

Be careful out there.

Nice work again bringing out the details from the larger picture! I think the last two are my favourites and are very colourful and eye catching.

I like your use of SS Tess and also your "cold as ice" photos. I keep my ice in the freezer by the way.

Thanks Kerrowdown... the big issue was falling on the ice... it was murder in the woods!

Thanks gman...that last photo was such a nice surprise.Camera was on a tripod at ground level pointed directly into the shimmering reflections of the sun and the photo looked black on my view finder. I was using the Tamron 90mm f/2.8 macro @ f/8 ISO 100 1/400s

Well, it'll be hard to find ice now. Temps have gone way up and it looks like spring has finally arrived. Thanks for having a look Bob!

Ummm - saw a Robin last week
Took the deck furniture out of the garage and back on the deck yesterday
There is no more snow on the lawn front or back
Saw a mosquito in the house on Saturday
Had a ball practice yesterday , suppose to play our first game tonight
Rain / snow forecasted for most of today (raining now currently 2C with windchill -4C , Flurries in some places already) today
Suppose to be plus 17 - 20 C on the weekend - so it's coming. We have our first slo pitch tournament next weekend booked so it better be nice ( as much as I like to play - I hate playing in the cold / wet getting too old or as current pop culture would say .. 'Ain't nobody got time for that!' )

Edit:

This mornings view will add another 1000 words .....
