10 miles east of Barstow CA and only 100 yards from the 15 freeway, is the remnants of Lake Dolores waterpark that was started in the early 60s.

The "next exit" is about 2 miles away to the east, and 4 to the west. It is really easy to miss.

I actually backtracked to go see it.

It turned out to be awesome.

The original park closed in the late 80s.

It was sold in 1990, and remodeled as Rock-A-Hoola waterpark, opening in 1998, and going Chapter 11 in 2000.

The third try, as Discovery waterpark, opened in 2002 and closed in 2004.

It has seen some vandalism, of course.

It was sort of a creepy feeling walking among the ruins.

But I want to go back!

This is a great set Kyle. So this is where you were Saturday morning?
Looks freaky. Wonder how it is after dark.

Great images, I love finding these kind of places, but seldom do.

So many photographic opportunities for portfolio shoots, models, bands, products and all with sunshine too.

Photographers heaven, no... just me then.

Thanks for posting.

Actually it was Friday, driving from Las Vegas to Calico Ghost Town and Barstow, where I stayed over.

This guy went at night.

they tried to keep this going but ran out of money, people and water I guess. We camped there a couple of times back in the 70s and played in the water. Great series here Kyle, thanks for the memories.
