Feathered Friends (6 shots)
Posted By: mtnbearhug, 03-08-2008, 10:10 PM

I got out and about in my yard today and got really close to my little woodpecker friend and am pretty happy with my shots...
Not cropped... and a little PP..

This is a crop of #2

This is cropped quite a bit but the sun was hitting the little guy just right!!

Then a pretty Robin (sure sign of spring) came hopping along ..... Both have been cropped as she was more shy then the woodpecker...

This is my favorite of them all...

Thanks for looking!! I hope you enjoy them.. CC is always welcomed...

Great shots Kim, I think I like the 3rd and last one the best. I looks like in the last one she posed just right for you. I can't wait for the robins to get back around here.

Very nice shots Kim. The Robin looks great. Spring is coming at least somewhere!

Great bird shots, Kim. Well done. I must agree with your choice of favourite. The last is a standout. But all are quite a commendable effort. Congrats!
Incidentally, what lens did you use for these shots, Kim?

Great shots Kim. I especially like 3 and the last. Sharp with nice colours and contrast.

Yes, your favourite is also mine. Nice results with 50-200mm, proves to be a decent lens!

I like the cropped #2 the best.

I don't want to consider the robin, having gotten 15 inches of snow yesterday

Actually the robin shots are quite good, just wish they were in my yard in place of the snow.

you must have been very close to the woodpecker, (within 10 feet I would guess).

Tom

Our robin is really a thrush, it really got it's name due to only the orange throat, otherwise there is no relationship between our bird and yours.

BTW it does make a statement about bigger is better

Ok, I thought it might not have been a 'robin', very nice looking bird all the same, thanks.

Love the Robin shot, Kim. It is an exception picture of a very common bird! They should be back in our neck of the woods by late March. If they come any earlier they will have to have snowshoes!

Nice shots Kim, I love the Robin shot, the last one. We spotted a Robin out of the break room window about 10 days ago, he must have been a scout and went back told all the others "It's not time yet" because I haven't seen another one since:-).

The woodpecker is adorable -- very nice shots -- and I love the capture of the sheen and the closeness of the feathers on the robin's breast.
