Raining Rabbits!
Lens: Sigma 50-150mm II 2.8 Camera: K-5 Photo Location: Texas
Posted By: Brazeal, 05-07-2013, 05:17 PM

Last night I went out in the backyard and saw a wild rabbit that lives in one of our front hedges. I went back inside to grab my camera, and of course, the rabbit was no where to be seen! I opened the gate to see if the rabbit was back in the front yard. As soon as I opened the gate and took a step, I saw the rabbit out of the corner of my eye within 15 feet of me. I stood still and raised my camera and snapped off several shots while occasionally pausing and turning my head to tell my Golden Retriever to back off and go sit down. It was late in the evening, and I was quickly pushing high ISOs at 2.8, so I then decided to try the onboard flash while crossing my fingers. I wish I would have had my 360 flash with me.
I stood there in the yard for what seemed to be an hour, and the Mom rabbit hopped all over the yard around me and was within 10 feet of me at one point. I stood as still as possible and pivoted to take the shots. Soon, I was surprised to see 3 baby bunnies join in on the fun. I had never seen them before now, and I've never even seen babies out in the open like that.

Is the baby morphing into the adult here? Supernatural?

Thanks for the comment. That praying photo actually was not in my original selection, but I went back through all of my captures and noticed the praying pose and kept it. I may do some more PP to that one and add some inspirational words later.

Thanks Susan. I thought the babies would be more popular. Sadly, it was almost pitch dark when the last two of the three babies came out, and I wasn't able to get an AF lock on them for long. I tried to focus manually, but that didn't work well either...lol.
