Pileated Woodpecker

This was taken last night. He's not a regular visitor so I was pleased with what I was able to capture. They were handheld as it was easier to be mobile in my house than it would have been if the camera was attached to a tripod:

Wow, never seen one on the ground. Nice soft natural light shots.

Dittos! The Holy Grail of woodpeckers. I'd LOVE to have one visit my feeders or the areas around them!

His red hat is gorgeous. Hard to capture these guys and it is hard to explain why as they are so darn big you would think it would be easy.
