Honolulu Car Show
Posted By: Tyama, 03-09-2008, 09:15 PM

Took my K20D with a DA*16-50 to the car show today. The first three are at 1600 iso and all were jpg and auto wb. And no there weren't any models to shoot, at least none that I wanted to ask to take pics of.

The K20D seems to handle ISO 1600 very well. If you look in my shots in Distorted Vision's thread about the Melbourne show, it's not difficult to see the noise even at ISO 400 with a K10D (unless I did something wrong, which is wholly possible!).

Gee those Mustangs are a good looking car... I hired a convertible the last time I was in Honolulu, not quite as pretty but you have the perfect climate for ragtops (it's 38 degrees in Melbourne as I'm typing this, ferocious out in the sun at the moment).

Was going to mention the same thing about the Kombi.
Good to see some nice examples of the people's car still around.

Thanks for the comments, I like the old VWs as well. Here are some more. The olive green bug is a 1947. It has a crank in the back to turn the motor as well as the signal semaphores on the column between the side windows, I've never seen one so old.

Ahhhh nice ... I have seen a few of the older bugs with the signal semaphores ... but not the crank handle though.

I remember hearing from someone that hand one trying to sort out an electrical issue with one ... was weird as they ran 6V instead of 12V electrical systems.

Absolutely!

Thanks for posting the other pic of the Beetle, Tyama. On Hawaii you could be reasonably sure there isn't another one of those around for thousands of kilometres.

No sorry I don't have any pictures of a Kharman Ghia . There was one there but it was modified too much, I like when they're kept original. I used to have a 68' Ghia in nice shape but I sold it for $2000 back in the early eighties. I was running out of battery power due to shooting the day before and not recharging.
