Nik Silver Efex Pro
Posted By: slowpez, 05-15-2013, 11:13 AM

Finally broke down and bought this program after seeing what could be done with it. This is my first try at a B&W using the program. The original was rather bland with a really nothing sky. It was raining to boot. So instead of tossing the photo I decided to try out Nik. What do you think? Is it too much? I couldn't believe the detail it pulled out of the sky.

Hi Susan. I like what the NIK software did. I have this color Efex Sliver Pro .. just have not used it yet. looks like I better start.

Sue
It sure keeps me occupied and thus out of trouble just playing around with it. Tons of fun.

I think it looks good in black and white and I agree it is much more captivating in B&W than in the original colour version. I think photos like this with lots of strong lines make great B&W conversions. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much.

I bought the NIK set when the sale was last month, but have not even tried any of it out yet. This is a great example here - you've given me the push to start working with it.
Thanks so much. Appreciate it.

Way to go. Nicely done. I had one Nik plugin and as such Google gave away the whole suite for free awhile ago. I use Silver Efx and Topaz B&W. They're both very cool. You can take that image and use single image HDR treatments for even further enhancement of the sky.
Thanks for the tip Den. I will definitely check that out. I did add a pretty blue sky to it with some nice fluffy clouds but never managed to get the tree tops to look right. Interesting about the single image HDR.
