Eva steals the show.
Lens: 18-250 Pentax Camera: K5 Photo Location: Wilmington Ma. ISO: 400
Posted By: charliezap, 05-19-2013, 08:32 AM

My niece Kristin had a birthday party for Lucas and his cousin Eva.Eva is a doll and very photogenic. The 3rd and 4th shots were edited with the K5's pastel filter. All shots were bounced flash off the ceiling.I must remember to not make the original shot too tight because some of the K5's filter modes crop at least 10% of the original.Hey-I'm young (at heart) and still learning. The last shot I was having fun with it in PSP.--charliezap

Party looks great, where was my invite, sandwiches with the crusts off, jelly and ice cream, it doesn't get better.

Really like the first couple of images, but not so sure about the pastel filter treatment on the cute wee lassie.

But hey I'm old school there'll be hundreds of folk posting on this thread how the love that effect, so don't mind me, I lost the plot years ago.

Great party shots, Charlie. #1 is my favorite. Is this the DA 18-250mm? It seems to have nicer colors than what I remember.

Thanks for the comments.Sometimes the filters work well with a given shot.It all depends on how the photo may be displayed in someones home or office.--charliezap

I don't think you can go wrong with a camera and kids Charlie. You'll have to show that last one to them and see what they say. I ate that?????

Hi Stefan--It is the Pentax DA 18-250 lens.I set the K5 to vibrant but cut down on the saturation when there are people in the shots.--charliezap

Simply outstanding, Capn. I love 'em all, but the first one steals my heart. She's a cutie for sure. Great photography - I never get flash shots this good.

I'm from the old days of flash days when I had to insert a Press 25 flash bulb in the holder. The Vivitar 285 HV non dedicated flash from Adorama or BH is my workhorse.Nothing fancy-just use your brain and play with it and you will be hooked. It's $89 and they tout it as light to go with many modes and intensities.I use bounce flash alot and it gives a real natural feel to the shots.--charliezap
