The Wedge-tailed Eagle (Aquila audax) is Australia's largest eagle (wingspan 6-8 feet). This one is a juvenile - first year plumage. As they age they go much darker, almost black. This one was feeding on a roadkilled wallaby when I disturbed it today. Hence the disapproving look - "Get away from my lunch." I took the image with the K-01 and Sigma 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 II DC HSM at 200 mm hand held. Just a touch of contrast added in PP. The image is a 100 per cent crop at 1240x960. Many people believe that the Wedge-tailed Eagle is a killer of lambs. They do hunt for live prey but are more often seen feeding on carrion. There are many young eagles around at the moment, the result of recent good seasons.
