the Mescal Bean Tree
Photo Location: Nevada
Posted By: Bob Harris, 05-24-2013, 08:45 PM

The mescal bean tree is in full bloom at our campground, if you have never been around this blossom, it smells like purple kool aid or grape soda. Most parts of this plant are poisonous - especially the claret red seeds in the seed pods. Native Indians used the seeds as hallucinogenics. The blooms are about 5 to 8 inches in length. I posted a thread on the bloom itself, here is a view of the tree.

Very nice. Not sure I'd consider them as "abstract." I like the second as showing the tree, and the third as showing the flowers. Pretty.
Thanks for sharing.

it really does seem similar Susan, but these are poisonous and actually smell better than lilac I think, more pungent I should say.

Hey Bob - a very nice look at a plant I don't recall seeing - great background, but given the toxic nature of these guys, I'll give 'em a wide birth . . . . . . as I've learned to do with cacti.
