The Palouse
Lens: Pentax 17-70 mm Camera: Pentax K-5 Photo Location: Washington State

Hanging out in the Palouse country this weekend. These shots were taken near the town of Wilbur, Washington, not too far west of Spokane, on a road trip from Seattle to Couer d'Alene, Idaho.

Awesome shots. I head south when the soybean fields bloom. Such dramatic and gorgeous colours. Thanks for sharing

Great images. I would have spent hours just shooting this field. High, low pano's etc. Love the contrast of Blue and yellows. JIM

Excellent idea. I was thinking a vertical pano to capture the field and the amazing sky. Your photos are giving me the itch to visit eastern Washignton. I'll be free next week. It may be time to scratch that itch.

Thanks to all for the kind comments

Jimbo, jnguyen, I could have spent hours here too but was traveling with people who were starting to get pretty impatient.

This is how the blue and yellow is meant to be! (sorry, these colors just always kinda pop up, our neighbor happens to be... ...Sweden ) Love the contrast and those colors are really alive!

What a perfect scene. This would be an excellent opportunity for a time lapse.

Your pictures remind me of an article I found a while ago. The contrast between teal and orange is very pleasing to the human eye. Cinematographers love those colors. Since people are in most every scene in movies, making the rest of the frame blue really makes skin tones pop. It seems there's been a recent trend of pushing this effect to the extreme. This article is a fun read, if you're interested.
