snowy toronto
Posted By: k100d, 03-12-2008, 08:12 PM

toronto's been getting some record snowfall this year, so the day it cleared up a bit, i took the pentax outside for some photos ... these photos are taken with the DA21, shrunk colour adjusted and sharpened in Irfanview (to be quick)

2nd pic is just to show the quantity of snowfall and there's a massive overhang over the window

If Mel was still around, he would have...a half-dozen times. I was going to say, very nice and sharp results but now I have a question, after seeing "shrunk colour adjusted and sharpened "...WHY?

thanks for the comments a lot of the snow has melted this week but it's supposed to snow again today

JCS: well i shrunk, because it has to fit; auto colour adjust didn't do much, just a bit of brightness ... the colours are legit; the sharpening is over the top i agree, but out of the camera raw was a bit soft, so after shrinking i sharpened, irfanview only has 1 sharpness mode that i'm aware of and it's too strong, next time i'll tone it down a bit

Lovely batch of snow and photographs too. We haven't been quite so burdened down here in the "south" but still enough's enough. Thermo's showing +9 degrees celsius today so I think *maybe* we've turned the corner.

On an aside, tell me about that DA21...might just be my next lens buy.

Amazing.

Astounding, absolutely astounding!. Just cant begin to imagine what trying to cope with that would be like.
Thanks for some great shots. Many parts of Aus are in the grip of a stretch of 40degC + heatwave.

Great shots!

I am a little envy, as I have seen a good snow cover only in pictures this winter, we should have a fair amount of snow here but likely is does not come this winter

i'm not really an authority on IQ, but so far performs great, the corners are much much better than the kit lens and the colours have been really nice
