Nice setup. Do you use an optical slave on that flash bracket?

Nice case. Reminds me of my old Leica case for my '52 Leica Rangefinder 11f.

A good product shot, just look at that quality leather case, cameras should all come with one of those.

I will, have to find my old Pentax AF 200T and 280T first and purchase remote slave trigger.
in the meantime I am going to borrow newish Yongnuo from friend , hopefully it will have slave trigger build in.

Let us know how it works! Some of us are put off by the lack of a built-in hot shoe.

I tried an external flash with an optical slave, triggered by my K-5 on-board flash, and it works great. I set the external flash to 1/16, so it could fire in rapid succession. Indeed, it fires on both the pre-flash, and the main flash. Resulting in perfectly metered exposures from the on-board flash!

But I tried this on my X-90 (predecessor to the X-5 bridge camera) and it didn't work. The time interval between the preflash and the main flash is much shorter, because the camera doesn't have to wait for the mirror to flip out of the way. My external flash, or the optical slave adaptor, couldn't keep up with the rapid sequence. So it only fires once, with the preflash.

I'd be curious to know if it works with the MX-1, since that also uses an electronic shutter.

Just an update to my previous post. I had been trying an old flash with a separate hotshoe-mounted optical trigger, which won't keep up with the X-90's fast preflash/flash sequence.

Today I tried again using the AF360FGZ with it's built in optical trigger in Slave 2 mode, and it turns out that it can keep up with the fast sequence. Not sure if that is because it is a newer flash, or because the optical trigger is built-in. Anyhow, I now have a solution for my X-90. You may have similar luck with the Yongnuo.

Yongnuo YN460 ( the older Mk I) is too slow and not really sensitive enough to be reliably used with MX-1 so I do not know if any optical slave trigger from e-bay would be fast enough to get my old AF200T and AF280T usable with MX-1.
might be better idea just to forget about them and get something newer like Pentax AF360, some people were using MX-1 with newish Nikon flashes successfully,
anyone with any suggestions, advice?

Yongnuo YN460 ( the optical sensor in the head, in Mk II they moved the sensor to the behind the red glassy plastic) works well as a optical slave with K-01 and with Sunpak DC-7 ( with Praktica PL nova I )
