Unknown bug
Lens: Sigma 105 2.8 Macro Camera: K-5 Photo Location: Fountain, CO

Have you ever seen something you could not quite understand, even though you were looking at it? Center of first photo is the bug. I didn't realize it was a bug until it moved. The bug was only 1/4 inch long or less.

Some very nice shots of a Toad Bug. We see them here in Tennessee most often in shallows near slow water.

A very odd looking critter. Well spotted, and thanks for sharing (both the photos and the information, no idea that they existed....)

Cool! Is the sand on the bug's back part of his body camouflage, or was it just so damp that some small sand grains adhered to his back?
