Astotin Lake, Elk Island
Lens: DA* 16-50 Camera: K5 Photo Location: Elk Island, Alberta
Posted By: daacon, 06-04-2013, 07:42 AM

A break from the birds. I went out to Elk Island National Park on Saturday evening for some shots. It's one of the first times I never saw one Bison. Food is plenty this time of year and they were likely deep in the park.

I did manage some landscapes. It was a beautiful evening, except for the millions of mosquitos around. I was covered up pretty good and had some deet as this is not my first rodeo out there , but some of them still managed to get me.

click on image twice for larger view

#1 - When I first arrived , very calm waters .....

#2 - a 5 shot +/- 1.7 HDR

#3 - This couple approached me after asking if I got a shot of them (they saw a photographer up on the hill) and asked me to send it to them. I did a few days ago , I don't mind at all. I did not hear back from him , so kinda dissapointed with that , oh well.

#4 - Hand held pano of the area - I tried one from the tripod - hand held one came out better

#5 - one last look

The first two images are stunning, with the reflections being so clear.

All of them are great, moody shots, but kerrowdown about the first two. I very much like the last one, too.

Really nice shots with great lighting and colours. Very subtle effect on the HDR as well. Great job!

2 thumbs up on these Dave! I enjoyed that first image so much, I had to play with it a bit. Hope you don't mind. I'll post it if you like.
