Bryce Canyon in Black and White
Lens: 15 DA and 43 FA LTD Camera: Pentax K-01 Photo Location: Bryce Canyon
Posted By: fotogaffer, 06-04-2013, 03:34 PM

I looked back on some of my photos from Bryce Canyon and liked the effect of the black and white conversion on some of them. Maybe I just got tired of looking at all the shots in colour making them all seem the same after a time, but I think the B&W emphasizes the rock structure a little more!

The Amphitheatre from Bryce Point ---- K-01 with 15 mm DA LTD

Hoodoo Detail ---- K-01 with 43 mm FA LTD

Wall of Windows ---- K-01 with 43 mm FA LTD

Wow, what an amazing place. Is there rock climbing there? The rock looks fairly crumbly.

I like the textures but in some ways the B&W makes it a bit hard for me to define what I'm looking at.

Wow. After all the brilliant colour photos of this place I have seen, I am delighted to see the black and white rendition. The patters are mesmerising especially in the first. It seems like one of those optical illusions that move. Fantastic

Thanks camerons. Even in colour, it's a lot to take in visually! There are lots of hikers, but we didn't see any rock climbers here. The rock is sandstone and probably not very suitable for rock climbing!

Thanks Bruce. Glad you liked the photos and the B&W conversions of a familiar landscape!

Great perspectives on Bryce -- the B&W is a perfect match for the hard shadows and really brings out the fantastic forms and textures.

Really beautiful shots and shows off what the K-01, combined with great lenses like DA 15 and FA 43, is capable of!
