I had trouble getting this shot as you can see. Into the sun on a Airforce Base.. and I was too close,, it was on a highway and I shot through the sunroof of our car.
Is It a Osprey?

Yes, definitely an osprey

This is 100% an osprey. The dark eye stripe and bright yellow eye are give-aways. This is most likely the female on the nest as she is responsible for the majority of the incubation and brooding duties. They are such awesome birds!

We have one that's nesting on a railroad bridge locally that I'm trying to figure a way of getting a decent shot of. Amazing birds and fun as hell to shoot when they're fishing because you can maybe get lucky and get them going under trying to nab a fish. Here, I managed to catch a bird without the bird being visible in the shot... LOL

Indeed it is and for some reason they seem to love nesting on poles.

The nest is HUGE like 5 feet across, it must of took a month to build.

Not sure what this guy is but he built a Condo.. this shot was a 1/4 mile away at least. Hand Held..... Next time I go to the big city I'm taking my tripod to get a better shot.

Osprey

fl_gulfer,

The other day I stepped outside and there must have been 25 ospreys circling above my house. I've never seen that many at one time. I think you and I live in the same neck of the woods, btw.
