Mesa Verde National Park

Photos from a recent trip to Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado. We spent two days in the park and had a blast! We took 4 ranger guided tours that were well worth the whopping $3 USD each! It was very cool to be able to not only see the ruins, but to get so close and crawl around!

The view looking out from Long House. The view is spectacular! Can you imagine living here!! (BTW, I love using the Fish Eye lens!!!)

The rest of the set can be found here. As always C&C is welcome. I hope to process the rest of the photos this weekend.

Mesa Verde and the Durango area were beautiful. I was honestly surprised at the amount of people at the park. I thought there would be many more people. I sure hope that we as Americans are enjoying these National Parks as much as possible. I would hate to see them go away because of a lack of interest!

Thanks for looking!!

Thanks for bringing back some memories. You have captured it beautifully. We loved Mesa Verde when we visited (30 years ago!). It is hard to imagine what it would have looked like when the rooms had roofs and daily life was going on about the place. I have a photos of my daughters emerging from the underground rooms. I don't think they had guided tours in my day - just park staff at each site to keep an eye on things. But I have my $3 ready if I ever get back there! Surely there can't be a lack of interest in these places in the US??!!

I like that first one. There is something similar, though smaller, in Canyon de Chelly in AZ - which is free :-)

You sure captured the feel of the place. Thanks for sharing. I remember the first time we went you could go anywhere you wanted to without restrictions. Either I am getting old or times are changing fast.

Nice shots of Mesa Verde and area! To really bring this story to life (or maybe to death), now pick up Craig Child's House of Rain!
