Indian Peaks Wilderness
Lens: Tokina 20-35mm F3.5-4.5 Photo Location: Northern Colorado ISO: 100 Aperture: F11
Posted By: Colorado CJ, 06-16-2013, 10:16 AM

I recently got a new (to me) lens, an older Tokina 20-35mm F3.5-4.5 II. So, yesterday I rode up to Brainard Lake Recreation area to do some hiking/photography in the Indian Peaks Wilderness. When I arrived, I found that the gates were still closed, so there was an additional 3 mile hike to get to the trailhead. This added an additional 6 miles to my hike, so I didn't hike as far in as I was expecting.

I hiked for a total of 10 miles, 4 of them being through 2'-10' snow drifts still covering the trail. I'm near laid up today and can barely climb my stairs

Anyway, here are the photos. I am not really impressed with the new lens. It seems to be pretty decentered as 1/3 of each shot is out of focus on the left side of all images, even at F11 and through all focal lengths. At 100% the sharpness really isn't there, even in the center of the frame. I think this one will be going back.

Lens issues aside, that's some beautiful scenery there and some very nice images!

I don't have time to look at the photos as I am still trying to recover from just reading about the hike. You are one crazy guy. Agree that is some beautiful scenery bad lens aside. Love the reflections in the last one.
