Mount Fuji

HI

This is one of the great symbols of Japan and truly a sight to behold from any distance.
This photo was taken back in late March 2010 at 17:30 and light was fading rapidly. When I was there at the time Mt. Fuji was shrouded in low clouds most of the day. But then for a very brief moment there was a hole in the weather and Mt. Fuji revealed herself. By the time I had prepared for the third shot clouds moved across again from the left hiding most of the top. The moment was over.

Greetings

Awesome shot. I hope to get one like it someday. The best I've done is a quick snap from the Shinkansen.

Just stunning. You did a great job in the limited amount of time you had. Hopefully you have this one framed and hanging somewhere.

Hi Kevin

It certainly is an imposing landmark and very much revered by all Japanese. When you think of Japan Mt.Fuji springs to mind doesn't it.

Thanks for commenting

Thanks Susan

Unfortunately I am starting to run out of space for more picture hanging, my garage has already been converted into my own art galley. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Hi

Photos don't give it justice once you have seen in true life I think. I always thought the same about the Eiffel Tower. There are millions of pictures of it but when you stand in front of it it is a different thing altogether.

Thanks for the appraisal.

Greetings

Amazing image! The shape, starkness and all over white of the mountain is so unusual (to me). Super light and the clouds add even more drama to the scene. Thanks for sharing this gem.

Thanks Tess,
I remember the air was extraordinarily clear that evening and with the day coming to a rapid close the light provided the extra definition which made Mount Fuji really stand out. I only had a few minutes to get the shot and I was running down the road to get the right angle because there were a lot of trees interfering with the framing and clouds moving in very fast.

Greetings

I am a high contrast lover, but I really enjoy how somber and humbling this image is.
Nice capture

Those low clouds to the left give a great sense of scale and make the shot, for me. Nice work capturing it.
