Grayson Highlands SP

The rhodies (rhododendrons) were just beginning to bloom.

Douthat SP - we only spent a couple of days here to recover from all those steep winding mountain roads we have been traveling on. Very nice state park though.

Very nice set Susan. The green is amazing to see since we have mostly brown here.

No ponies this time. We did see them but only as specks in the distance. Still enjoying the Crooked Road. Bought a lot of CDs and have taken in quite a few jam sessions and even paid for a few performances. This bluegrass stuff is addictive.

Thanks leptim. The green takes a lot of rain.

What a beautiful place to visit Susan, just pulled in to Colorado and it is very dry on the prairies, but the fires are just about out here in Colorado Springs/Black Forest area. You sure got some beautiful photos.

Sometimes I miss Atlanta and the 50" of annual rain we got there. I really love storms, but I haven't seen any rain since... February? January? Colors are pretty subdued this time of year. The flora is a little... crispy.

Very Nice Susan. SW Virginia is lovely, especially when the Rhododendrons are blooming. Did you go to the top of Mt Rogers or Whitetop?

Susan, did you by chance get to see the Floyd Country Store? I spent many a Friday night there taking in Bluegrass jam sessions....

We didn't hike up to the top of Mt. Rogers this time. Seem to remember the only view from up there is of the geo survey disk buried in the ground. The hike up was beautiful though. We plan to bike the Virginia Creeper from Whitetop if the rain ever stops. Started back up today with a vengeance.

If you're there this weekend check out the Rex Theater in Galax for live music and flat footing or the Blue Ridge Music Center on the Parkway.
