A walk through Vancouver's Chinatown
Posted By: KungPOW, 03-15-2008, 11:02 PM

Went out to shoot some film today. Old-school. Used a Pentax ME for a change of pace. Film was Ilford XP2 Super 400. Had it scanned at the photolab. First time I've had film scanned, so I really did not know what to expect. More grain and contrast then I was expecting, but then that might be from the scanning. I didn't have them scanned at the highest available.

Coments and critisim most welcome. Hope you enjoy!

Eric.

They look good to me Eric, I wouldn't worry about the quality of that scanning.

This is off the topic I know, but...
I'll be in Vancouver the first weekend of April, shooting a couple of events.
The chances are that I'll be swamped, but I wonder what the chances of arranging a friendly get together with you along with some of the other members from that area are

I wouldn't want to meet in a pub, in case there are some younger members, but a coffee shop or something might be fun.

OT: I'm in the Vancouver area. Would be cool to have a Pentax Vancouverites meet

KungPOW, the shots are pretty good. There's something about film that digital, for some reason, hasn't been able to capture yet. An essence or something.

I really like the 2nd and 3rd shot the best. So abtract but culturally specific! Love it!

Thank you for the comments everyone!

I think a get together in April is a great idea. We should think of a time and place? Anyone know how to contact other Vancouverites/Lower mainlanders?

Eric

I love the composition and symmetry in the bamboo shot. It's absolutely perfect.

I actually live in the Vancouver area and your shots have inspired me to head down to Chinatown soon and try to capture it in a new perspective.

Thanks for sharing and the inspiration!!
