Side note... I have had several people (from other countries) ask me 'who is that'... I assume the show isn't on tv there or they aren't watching yet... but the man with the beard is the star of a really popular TV show in the US. It's a comedy in case you're wondering

I think the producers would like you to believe that it's a 'reality' show but you are correct in saying it's a comedy, and a comedy of errors in most episodes.

All that matters is it's pretty funny. Contrived or not it makes me laugh. The personalities on the show are actually their real personalities though. I imagine they give them a plot line and let them write their own script so to speak.
