Wow. The ice may have been good luck, but skill was needed to capture it so well. Amazing.

It looks like light is shining through the ant's body. Was this natural light, off-camera flash, or something else?

All natural light. Actually it's not the ant's body. There was a leaf inside that block of ice if I remember correctly.
