Weekend random shots
Posted By: roentarre, 01-13-2007, 03:18 PM

Melbourne has an unexpected sunny weekend. I decided to test out the lenese a bit otherwise all of them are collecting dust (sadly)

ISO1600 and SR seem to have great use in k10d; 2X S adaptor on 300mm

1/90s f/2.8 at 600.0mm iso1600 full exif

Finally I get to play around with DA 14/2.8

1/250s f/8.0 at 14.0mm iso100 full exif

1/250s f/8.0 at 14.0mm iso100 full exif

This is a not-so-well composed shot where the whole butterfly is out of focus. But I like the colour though...

1/180s f/4.5 at 600.0mm iso800 full exif

Some rich colour from Fa31 ltd

1/125s f/2.8 at 31.0mm iso100 full exif

1/2000s f/3.5 at 77.0mm iso100 full exif

1/250s f/4.5 at 200.0mm iso100 full exif

1/250s f/3.5 at 300.0mm iso400 full exif

1/180s f/4.0 at 600.0mm iso400 full exif

Thanks for looking!

The colors are great. Jpeg or Raw? Oh yea, those of us in the NE US that see the sun 1 out of 10 days this time of year don't want to hear about your sunny weekends in beautiful Melbourne.

Not so random. You have a real knack with butterflies. Too bad you are bothered with all that sunshine and warmth. You have our deepest, way north of the equator, sympathies.

Really like you compos.

I just can't get over the butterflies.

Hi Regken. The sun here is deadly. There is no ozone layer above us and melanoma prevalence is highest in the world. Australian sun does not tan but peel off our skin here. Plus the heavy smoke from the bushfire. It is hardly that pleasant.

Kind of struggling here for photos as all birds are really gone to the shores... Drought everywhere.

I kind of love the snowy weather now. Gelati does not quench my thirst here...

Hehe I was not really complaining about the warm weather. Melbourne has this type of fickle weather change much more unpredictable than menopausal symptoms. Suddenly windy then suddenly overcast with gale bring some drizzles following by some crazy intense sun burning my skin off.

Lucky I still can find some live things to photograph. It is harder and harder with the way the heat is around here.

I will try to do some shots of butterflies with my new macro arriving in 1 week

Pentax camera and lenses give me the satisfaction for images like that once in a while. This is really something with pentax A* series lenses. Really Addictive. I used to be a fanboy for canon and I am totally converted to pentax now...

I had visited your image library and each of your images is a celebration of intricate composition and lighting. I totally enjoy seeing your photos there.

great stuff James, the 2 butterflies, and the 3rd shot over all is stunning. that one in particular (3rd from top) gives off a sense of openness. I like the way both river banks frame the horizon.

I need to get one of those lenses, maybe with my tax refund...

great series...always look forward to your posts, I dont comment much on a lot of the stuff that gets posted, but I do enjoy seeing everyones work

I like all of these shots too, but I found the second one catching my eye more often as I look. Must be the composition. Great job, Roentarre! You should blow the dust off them lenses more often

It was a really warm day. Sometimes you would just want to relax on weekends.

With your fisheye lens, I am sure you would have a more dramatic interpretation for the 2nd shot.

Thanks for your comments
