On Saturday night, I saw lightning for the first time since I moved to Phoenix in November. Not one to miss an opportunity, I headed out with a little pocket tripod and, for some reason, my Sigma, which is horrible for low light. But whatever, that's what the tripod was for.
The closest area with a view of the distant storm was the power plant across the street. How fitting.
It was just heat lightning, and it was so far away that there was no thunder. Still, it was a rare bit of weather excitement here, just after the beginning of the monsoon season. It was only 101° when I took this picture. Nice and cool.
We still haven't gotten any rain yet, though.
